Duo is great! I have spent over 800 days studying it. 

But it teaches language in a roundabout way, with seemingly random sentences and phrases. If you pay for AI conversations your conversational abilities improve. But if you travel in Mexico or South America you may find yourself lacking the means to communicate in a restaurant, in a taxicab or worse, in a hospital. Many travelers now use their phone and Google translate. But this is not nearly as enjoyable as speaking the language nor as respected among the people who live there. The conversations here are  a different approach than your favorite app. They are laid out line by line with English translations, audio snippets and for those who find Spanish verbs baffling, a short explanation of verb usage. If you pay for answer explanations in Duo your verb understanding will get better, but these explanations give you a short insight into usage.
